Abstract

The causes and risk factors associated with falls by older persons are multiple. Particularly, the risk of suffering a fall at home increases with advancing age. Therefore, a home assessment that may be done through a home visit by medical personnel is very important. The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between physical therapy students' recognition of in home environmental hazards and eye movement. The non-contacting eyeball movements while watching a motion picture were measured by the Eye Mark Recorder (EMR-8, NAC). We analyzed the subjects' gaze part, gaze time and gaze locus. As a result of the experiment, the gaze time to the environmental hazards was long, this suggested that subjects had directed their attention to those hazards.
