I had been asked for the following; What attracted you to the innovation of rehabilitation medicine, being that it was outside of your field of expertise? You could deal with it serving as a city councilor, couldn't you? Could you explain the research until today? How are you living without any income? For this 5th conference, we received support of the Consulate-General of Japan at Perth, Means Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the first time. The first of this International Biophilia Rehabilitation Conference co-convened with CNMI Council on Developmental Disabilities under my responsibility. In the third, we were greeted by the President of the Philippines and then held the conference in Manila with Dr. Sison and Prof. Nagasawa as co-chairs. The fourth was held in the Deutsches Rheuma-Forschungszentrum in Berlin, known for Dr. Rudolf Virchow: pathologist, (1821-1902) had coined the term "Omnis cellula e cellula". Recently, the famous doctor on rehabilitation medicine looks back on previous medical treatment, and has determined that "it is hard to evaluate it effectively" in regards to the Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation, more specifically enforcement of the basis principle of rehabilitation medical treatment. Looking back upon such progress, the necessity and justification for the innovation of rehabilitation medicine are considered to have been recognized by society. As one of the symposium presenters of the fifth IBRAC, I reflect upon the past and view future research for the innovation of the rehabilitation medicine with two professors as coauthors who have studied together, especially on the important breakpoint of research promotion.

The causes and risk factors associated with falls by older persons are multiple. Particularly, the risk of suffering a fall at home increases with advancing age. Therefore, a home assessment that may be done through a home visit by medical personnel is very important. The purpose of this study is to assess the relationship between physical therapy students' recognition of in home environmental hazards and eye movement. The non-contacting eyeball movements while watching a motion picture were measured by the Eye Mark Recorder (EMR-8, NAC). We analyzed the subjects' gaze part, gaze time and gaze locus. As a result of the experiment, the gaze time to the environmental hazards was long, this suggested that subjects had directed their attention to those hazards.

The physical improvement of the bodies at welfare facilities for the elderly, which introduced the TAKIZAWA method on the rehabilitation training, is reported to be significantly effective. The method was realized from the development of an ankle joint dorsiflexion machine and a knee joint extension and flexion machine (developments) in order to make self training of the affected side leg which has the paralysis possible by using those developments even if the affected side leg couldn't move by the self training. This report clarifies the difference of the exercise effects due to contrasting infrared images in order to verify which part of the leg is activated by the self training.
