Abstract
Assistive technology devices and services are vital tools for helping students with disabilities access and benefit from their education. The importance of assistive technology in the educational area is underscored by the requirement in the 1997 reauthorization of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) that school districts must "consider" assistive technology for students in special education programs.
