Abstract
Many investigations have been performed on rotary magnetic hysteresis, yet even the recent results show a great diserepance. This inconsistency is thought due chiefuly to the systematic errors of various measuring methods as well as the difficulty of extirpation of this phenomenon from its masking effects.
Taking the irregularity of the ele tromagnetic field brought into existence by the unsymmetrical forms of test pieces and Joule's effect as chief detrimental masks, the author of this paper describes a comparatively accurate method consisting of the measurement of torque of a solid spherical test piece in a rotary magnetic field and the correction of Joule's effect.
The practice of this method is now gong on in the author's laboratory.
