Abstract
A new voltage-sensorless interleaved voltage-doubler rectifier is proposed for power factor correction(PFC) in this paper.Conventional voltage-doubler rectifiers are widely used in various dc applications because they can supply a high voltage in spite of their simple circuit configuration. However, the ac-side current of the conventional rectifier is seriously distorted and it contains a large amount of harmonics unless an appropriate countermeasure is taken. Such current harmonics may cause the occurrence of a failure in the apparatuses of the power system. It is therefore important for power system and power-electronic engineers to reduce the current harmonics and correct the power factor in order to keep the electric power transmission in failure-free condition. The proposed rectifier has a two-cell (sub-converter) interleaving configuration with a controller including only one current sensor and excluding conventional ac and dc voltage sensors, and it has almost harmonics-free performance on the ac side in steady-state and transient conditions. The practicability of the proposed rectifier is confirmed by simulation and experiment.
