Abstract
Recently as interests in environmental issues increase, demands for mercury-free fluorescent lamps are increasing because mercury is harmful to human being and environment. We are deveroping mercury-free fluorescent lamps using double helical electrode (DHEL).In this paper characteristics of rare gas discharge DHEL such as luminance, lamp current and lump power are investigated. When the ratio Xe : Ne was fixed at 7:3, total pressure at 1.33 kPa and external electrode pich 10 mm, luminance over 10000 cd/m2was established. As the future work, the best condition for the luminescence of DHEL is examined.
