病院図書室の現状と大学図書館への要望

Nowadays, medical libraries at general hospitals (medical libraries) are experiencing diverse changes, such as the need for Internet access and multimedia in the face of tight budgets. In this report, the present state of affairs of medical libraries facing diverse changes and the need for support from medical school libraries are described. Currently, medical libraries are struggling with the problems of a lack of human resources and lack of quality resources. In an attempt to solve these problems, a network has been established among medical libraries. Altough the network helps to improve the quality of service, less than 10% of all medical libraries have joined the network. Mutual aid among medical libraries and support from medical school libraries are indispensable for medical libraries to meet the demands of users. Medical libraries request that medical school libraries provide training courses and organize support for medical libraries in regard to various resources. Therefore, good relationships between medical libraries and medical school libraries are essential.
