A new solitary elderly people safety life support system has been developed for monitoring health conditions and active behaviors during daily life. The system employs a piezoelectric sensor, two low-power active filters, a low-power 8-bit single chip microcomputer(SCM)and a 315 MHz radio transmitter. The body movements due to pulse, respiration, walking, running and posture changes are recorded by the piezoelectric sensor and fed into the SMC. If the patient is in inactive state for 64 minutes or 5 minutes after falling, then the SMC informs the emergency situation via the phone to the patient's family, the fire station or the hospital. The system is powered by a small 3V lithium battery, which provides 14 days of continuous operation.
