The attention and concern in the medical practice have recently paid to the emergency resuscitation. The resuscitation is absolutely indicated and to be carried out in a patient who suddenly develops the respiratory or cardiac arrest under any circumstances. The majority of the patients who need for the resuscitation may be resuscitated, if the appropriate care and resuscitation method are applied. The methods of the resuscitation in the respiratory standstill are varied, such as the insufflation of the expiratory air (by mouth-to-mouth or mouth-to.nose), the manual respiration method and the artificial respiration method (by the manual artificial ventilator or automatic artificial ventilator). The choice of those methods should be decided primarily based upon whether the patient needs only air or oxygen in addition. The method of the larger exchange air volume is the method of the better choice, when only air is availabe. The resuscitation rate and the prognosis of the patient are dependent upon the age of the patient, the past history of illness, the degree of the thoracic involvement, the circumstance of the accident and the duration of apnea. The patient should be transferred to the qualified hospital for the emergency resuscitation while maintaining the air supply, if the patient could be transferred. The authors described the outline of the emergency resuscitation of the respiratory arrest and reported the result of the study on ventilation faculty, especially the pressure-volume relationship, the insufflation of the expiratory air and various ventilators.
