Obstetricians have long been aware of the need for a practical and reliable method of fetal electrocardiography. Theoretically, there are 3 types of energy that it is possible to measure through the mother's abdomen : inertial energy, sound waves, and electrical voltages. Practically, one of these methods is the fetal electrocardiography. To be of the most value, not only must the fetal electrocardiograph offer an effective way of determining fetal heart rate but also the fetal complex itself should be of clinical significance. Now, maternal, fetal and newborn radioelectrocardiographies have been introduced to our clinics with the progress of moden medical electronics. We have an opportunity to detect meternal, fetal and newbon ECG under following conditions : (1) normal and abnormal labors, (2) inducting labors by oxytocin, (3) obstetric analgesia and anesthesia, (4) any and all medication administered to the pregnant patient, etc.. The advantages of the wireless system is to make possible the remote recordings. Thus, only the transmitter need be moved to the patient's room, whereas the receiver and recording apparatus remain stationary.
