The use of water soluble organic polymer as a molding binder was examined. In this research polyvinyl alcohol (PVA) was used as the binder material and excellent adhesive and nontoxic properties were proved. In addition, PVA containes reactive hydroxyl radicals which react with boron compound. The reaction occurred in the sand mix. From the research it was found that this phenomenon can be applied to molding. Co-solvent (H2O and alcohol) was used as a solvent of PVA instead of single solvent (H2O) and good mold properties were obtained as a result of rapid release of the co-solvent from the mold.
