An automatic equipment for on-line measuring physical characteristics of mulling sand is developed to control molding sand in jobbing foundries. Successful utility of the equipment is confirmed through a reliability test comparing with a standard sand tester. A trial estimation of the mulling condition was made by measuring momentary change in sand.
