Effects of inhibitor addition and corrosion resistance on the sand erosion resistance in the Fe-(15, 25 mass) % Cr-(0, 3 mass) % Ni-(2.8, 3.8 mass) % C white cast irons were studied in different testing conditions by measuring the weight loss and measurement of anodic polarization curves. In corrosive testing conditions, the better combinations of wear loss and corrosive resistance are obtained for high chromium white cast irons. Addition of 0.01∼0.02 mol/L inhibitor improves wear loss of 15 Cr alloy in corrosive conditions at 305 K and has little effect on the wear loss in abrasive conditions at 288 K.
