Since 1950 brochography has been performed in 407 in-patients of several types of pulmonary tuberculosis, except the cases treated with collaps therapy.
Relation between pulmonary lesions and bronchograms was examined by Gakuken-classif ication.
Results are as follows:
1) About 80% abnormal findings were observed on bronchograms. In the fundamental types of the classification, 63% of exudative, 78% of proliferativecaseous, 91% of fibrocaseous and both 100% of disseminated and far advanced had abnormal findings. In tuberculoma and cavitary tuberculoma, slight changes were not seen and it was noteworthy that normal finding was recognized in 56% of the former and 39 of the later.
2) As to relation between the extents of lesions by N. T. A. classification and findings of bronchograms, parallel relation was observed, namely the former was slighter the later fewer.
3) From the above results, abnormal findings on bronchograms were more remarkable as the lesions elapsed longer and spreaded wider. Abnormal variety on bronchograms was perhaps due to the specific changes of cavities and drainage bronchi, extent of lesions and its time elapsed.
