Abstract
An infusion apparatus which can control very minute volume easily and precisely has been wanted by pediatricians and neonatal surgeons. In order to fascillitate the strict coun'ing and controlling of minimal infusion speed (200cc to 500cc per day or more, 40 to 120 drops per cc), the author modified the ordinary type dripper and made a new one of extremely small drip.
Any amount of fluid, if it is more than 200cc per day, can be infused at the rate of more than 10 drops per minute.
The mechanism of the dripper is very simple as shown in Fig. 4: the fluid to be infused drips through the siliconized point of the dripper. Since the outside of the point is water-repellent, the size of drip formed is much smaller compared with one through nonsiliconized set. Siliconisation is eaily repeated in case the water-repellency is diminished or lost.
