1. Tinea unguium (finger-nails)
Thirty-one patients were given 0.5g of Griseofulvin daily for three months. Seventeen cases were cured in three months. Among remaining cases, seven patients were improved in one year after the treatment.
2. Tinea pedis (interdigitale type)
Sixty-four cases were treated with Griseofulvin and Variotin-ointment for topical treatment. The daily dosage of Griseofulvin employed was 0.75g and the duration of the treatment was one month. Fifty-five patients were improved at the end of one month's treatment, but in 19 cases relapse occurred after three to twelve months. Nine patients were not improved at the end of the treatment, but in 2 cases mycologic examination produced negative cultures after three months.
Side Reaction
Side reactions observed were anorexia in 2 cases, headache and drug eruption in each 1 case.
In all our patients, blood, urine and hepatic function tests were done and all were normal.
