We think that the definite diagnosis of cholelithiasis should be done by recongnition of stone-shadow through rentgenographic examination, especially by cholecystography.
Unsuccessful cholecystography is not infrequent, so in such cases rentgenographic examination is not powerful.
We could make definite diagnosis of cholelithiasis by recognizing stone echo wave through Ultrasonic Diagnostic Apparatus.
Upon 31 cases of the operated cholelithiasis, we had done ultrasonic diagnosis before surgery. Through comparison ultrasonic diagnosis with operative findings, we found Ultrasonic Diagnostic Apparatus was useful to make definite diagnosis of cholelithiasis.
