Three dimensional morphological study of pelvic bone and cavity was done with the aid of HCT.
As a preliminary procedure, HCT was taken at various horizontal levels of pelvis altering their antero-posterior inclination with skeletal specimens, and each picture of HCT was evaluated respectively.
HCT of living subjects of upright position was taken in accordance with each level of anterior superior iliac spine, pubic symphysis and mid plane of them. Comparison of the character of pelvic bone and cavity of normal multipara with that of the mother of child with congenital dislocation of the hip was done by using HCT.
The results are as follows.
1) In HCT obtained in the level of anterior superior iliac spine.
The pelvic cavity of the mother of child with dislocation is deeper and the angle made by both ilium is less than those of normal multipara.
2) In HCT obtained in the hight of mid point between anterior superior iliac spine and pubic symphysis.
Both sides bony wall of the pelvic cavity are directed in nearly parallel position in normal multipara but they opened out backward in the motherr of child with dislocation.
It is considered that these findings are derived from developmental error of the pelvis.
