Dermatomycosis in which the pathogenic microorganisms could be recognized in this hospital were summed up to 561 during two years from January 1, 1967 to December 31, 1968: these cases occupied about 11.5% of the total number of the new patients and about 8.4% of the total skin-diseases during the same period. Trichophytia was 82.0% of the total dermatomycosis and it was all superficial trichophytia except each one case of Kerion Celsi and sycosis trichophyticus s, parasitaria. The dermatophytes were cultivated as to all the cases of trichophytia and 230 strains were obtained during 198: there were contained 170 strains of Tricltophyton rubrum (73.9%), 56 of Triclzq hytcn nuntagrcphytcs (24.3%), 3 of Epidermophyton floccosum, and 1 of Microsporum gyfreum. The successful separation ratio was about 83.6%. Pityriasis versicolor was about 5.3% of the total-dermatomycosis, which contained a case of a 4- month-old girl whose forehead was attached with the disease. Cutaneous candidiasis was about 11.9% of the total dermatomycosis and was all caused by Candida albicans. Interdigital erosion was most observed next to paronychia and onychia. An obvious relation was seen between these types of candidiasis and washing or scullery work, considering the particular circumstances in this district. Candidiasis was found in the parts under goldring, sticking-plaster and adult-diaper as uncommon cases;these cases were much or less “interitrigo”: only one case on the nose having no relation with “intertrigo” was seemed to be a medically caused disease due to corticosteroid ointment. Among the cases of Trichophytia, there were observed con-siderably many cases seem to be medically caused. Though erythrasma were observed in three patients, its precise reports are shown in a table only here as it is now thought to be a bacterial disease. As Atami district is a warmer part in Japan and one of the most famous spa and resort, there are seen particular structures of population and occupation in this district. Considering such circumstances, dermatomycosis was studied clinically and mycologically, but extreme difference was not observed comparing the findings at Atami with the reports about other districts in Japan, except the relations between occu-pation and some of candidiasis.
