In foregoing Part I the absorption of vitamine C (abbrev. V-C) from the intestinal tract was discussed. In this part studies were made on to what extent changes in organisms, received in environments of high or low temperatures, influence the absorption of V-C. Examinations were performed on a total of 21 rabbits.
In high temperature environments, temperature was regulated to 39.5° to 44.0°C, humidity to 30% or 80%, while in that of low temperature, 0°C was maintained. All other procedures were as described in Part I.
Generally speaking, the changes in the organisms increase in high temperature, with the increase of humidity, and the absorption of V-C and NaCl diminishes as compared with low humidity.
On closer observation, in high temperature, the absorptive coefficients of both V-C and NaCl show a slight temporary increase, but after 2 hours, both show a decrease which in high humidity is more remarkable.
In high temperature and high humidity, as compared with low humidity, the plasma concentration of NaCl demonstrates only a slight increase, and its decrease is rapid.
The amount of V-C excretion decreases along with the decrease of urine, and in high humidity this is remarkable.
The absorption of V-C and NaCl under low temperature was almost similar to that undrenormal conditions.
