Abstract
We present a rare case of traumatic aneurysm of the superficial temporal artery in a 20-year-old man. The patient had a pulsatile mass in the left temporal region at the last 2 months after traumatic injury. On admission, there was a pulsatile mass of little fingers head at the left temporal region which disappeared when the main trunk of superficial temporal artery (STA) was compressed. The selective cerebral angiography showed an aneurysmal dilatation at the left STA. Excision of the aneurysm under local anesthesia was performed successfully. Histopathological examination of the specimen showed hypertrophic intima and absence of internal elastic lamina. The clinical findings pathology and ethiology of the pseudoaneurysm of the STA were discussed with a review of the literature.
