Abstract
Squamous cell carcinoma of the skin rarely develops under the nail. However, among the subungual malignant tumors, squamous cell carcinoma is most common. In the present study, a 79-year-old male and a 65-year-old female with subungual radiation keratoses are reported, As for these two patients, the keratoses may have been caused by long-term superficial X-ray irradiation therapy for rigworms. When a patient has a history of iradiatiation therapy, and he complains the pain or flare of their nails, biopsy should be done immediately. Because the diagnosis of radiation keratosis should be suspected and treatment should be started before invasive carcinoma develops.
