Abstract
Heart transplantation is accepted as the therapeutic option for the end-stage heart failure patients. From the registry of the International Society for Heart and Lung Transplantation, over 46 thousand patients were received heart transplantation. The one-year survival rate was 79% and the patient 1/2 life was 8.7 years. And over 90% survived patients had on limitation in function 3 years after heart transplantation. Over 40 Japanese patients received heart transplantation in abroad and the results were good. In recent years, ventricular assist systems were used as a bridge to heart transplantation, and weaned cases were reported after long-term support.
