Abstract
Two patients with idiopathic scrotal calcinosis (ISC) were reported, Histological findings showed calcium deposits in the middle and deep dermis. The surrounding areas of these calcium deposits revealed metachromasia with toluidin blue staining. The content of glycosaminoglycan (GAG) of these ISC lesional skin was higher than that of normal control.
Analysis of GAG was performed by two dimentional electrophoresis, which showed heparan sulfate (HS) in GAG.
It is considered that HS, originated from dermal mast cells, be a core of these calcium deposits.
