Abstract
To construct large-scale database for clinical perinatal research, Clinical Obstetric Information Network (COIN) started in 1996.
1. Participants were 29 national hospitals (Chiba, Fukuyama, Hirosaki, IMCJ, Kanazawa, Kasumigaura, Kobe, Kochi, Kofu, Kure, Kyoto, Kyushu MC, Miechuo, Nagoya, Narashino, NCNP, NCVC, Okura, Osaka, Osakaminami, Otake, Sagamihara, Sendai, Shibukawa, Shimonoseki, Takasaki, Yamaguchi, Yokohama, Zentsuji) in 1998.
2. Total mothers were 12, 075 cases, 895 (7.4%) of those were preterm deliveries. Maternal transfer were 406 cases (3.4%), postpartum hemorrhage were 2, 492 cases (20.6%), and blood trans-fusion were 32 cases (0.3%). Maternal death were 3 cases, maternal mortality rate was 24.6 (per 100, 000 live births).
3. Total neonates were 12, 195 cases, 877 (7.2%) of those were preterm between 28-36 weeks, and 61 cases (0.5%) were between 22-27 weeks. Early neonatal death were 37 cases, mortality rate was 3.0 (per 10000 live births). Fetal death after 22 weeks were 76 cases, rate was 6.2 (per 1000 total births). Perinatal mortality rate 9.2 (per 1000 total births).
