Abstract
[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to compare Eccentric Stretching (ES) and Static Stretching (SS) to see if it could be a useful technique to prevent performance degradation. [Method] The range of motion (ROM) of the ankle dorsiflexion before and after the intervention of the two methods of stretching, ES and SS, and the control without stretching(NS), targeting the ankle plantar flexor muscles of 18 healthy male university students. And the ankle plantar flexor muscle strength and vertical flight were compared. [Results] In ROM, SS and ES were significantly higher after the intervention. The ankle plantar flexor muscle strength was significantly lower in SS and significantly higher in ES. In vertical jump, ES improved slightly after the intervention, but no significant difference was observed. [Conclusion] It was suggested that the ES used in this study may be an effective technique to prevent the performance deterioration pointed out in SS.
