High precision and high efficiency motion have become the primary requirements for a linear motor. However, due to the counter driving force of the table, vertical vibration will be generated when the horizontal speed changes, which has a great influence on the vertical positioning precision of the system. Hence, it is necessary to research the vertical vibration characteristics of beam structure such as natural frequency, damping ratio when the table moves. In this paper, first, the phenomenon of vertical vibration of the beam due to horizontal acceleration is illustrated. Second, hammering test and SFRA is applied to acquire the mode shape, natural frequency, and damping ratio of the beam system. Finally, the effect of table position on the natural frequency, damping ratio, and deflection amplitude response is presented.
