Abstract
Field-emission displays (FED) using carbon nanotubes (CNT) which is considered to be a kind of ideal electron emitter material, has the high light-emission efficiency, wide contract, high speed response, and excellent color quality, which is similar to the conventional cathode ray tubes (CRT), in addition to the characteristic of low power consumption, are expected to be the next-generation flat panel displays which have the higher performances than the popular plasma displays (PDP) and liquid crystalline displays (LCD). In this report, the properties of CNTs, their synthesis methods, the fabrication of CNT emitters and the developments in making CNT-FED are interpreted.
