Abstract

This report describes fundamental 3D modeling techniques using the Voxel file format FAV. It expands upon the content presented at 4DFF2025, adding techniques planned for presentation at 4DFF2026. FAV overcomes the weaknesses of the STL file format, enabling 3D modeling without the need for complex STL file editing. The report outlines the key points for generating PNG files from FAV that can be input into Additive Manufacturing (AM). It demonstrates that 3D data creation using FAV allows for the simultaneous representation of multiple 3D structures without Boolean operations, and includes scaling and rotation functions for modeling within transparent resin. Furthermore, it shows that operations such as combining multiple FAV files are possible. These functions, unavailable in Stratasys' GrabCAD, are now available on FAV. Finally, it demonstrates the ability to 3D model physical quantities in arbitrary 3D space. Since FAV is license-free except for some techniques, we hope it will be useful for your color 3D modeling.
