We have proposed a new electrophotographic process without corona discharge using two component developer consisting of in sulative magnetic toner and a conductive magnetic carrier and an a-Si photoreceptor with thickness of only 6 μm. The photoreceptor is charged through the conductive magnetic carrier. Toner particles can be easily electrostatically transferred from photoreceptor to plain paper. The image density of 1.3 on plain paper is obtained at the peripheral velocity of photoreceptor with 5 cm/s and the bias voltage of 60 V. We also discuss the photoinduced decay of the surface potential in terms of charge carrier transport properties in the photoreceptor. The calculation based on this consideration shows that the a-Si:H photoreceptor is suitable for this system.
