Abstract

Brain data obtained from 19 lung cancer patients by F-fluorodeoxyglucose~18 positron emission tomography (F-FDG-PET~18) were compared with those of ten inpatients with a benign disease. Reduction of regional brain metabolism was found in cancer patients mainly in the bilateral orbitofrontal cortices and putamen. Activated regions were the posterior parietal and visual cortices. The hypothalamus did not show changes in the glucose metabolism.
