Abstract
Through daily clinical practice, I often feel that disorder is not necessarily something to be cured, but to be interpreted as a message of mind and body (that is the inner nature), and I realize the deep meaning of disease as a metaphor. In future medicine, it will become important for a doctor to interpret the meaning of disease together with a patient in addition to exploring treatments of the disease. To find that disease and death have not only a negative meaning, but a positive one leads to deeper understanding of them. In this mini-symposium, I will talk about how disease comes to appear as a metaphor within the relationship among nature, body, mind, and the brain. On top of that, I would like to discuss what future medicine will be like.
