Abstract
The NPO mentioned in this paper “Mixed Roots×youth×Net★Conpeito” was formed by youth immigrant members raised in the Tokai area. In the 90s an increasing number of foreigners including many families with children started in the Tokai area. Since then, the number of children in need of Japanese language education became the highest in Japan. Many of the members of this NPO came to Japan with no language skills and had experienced countless difficulties throughout their lives that could only be overcome thanks to the support provided by school teachers, family and friends. It’s because of this that they have turn into successful role models. The activities of this NPO made the authors learned the importance of self confidence in respect to their roots and to confirm that it has been an important hint to help their younger generations. Since a lack of educational support is still present in many areas of Japan, this paper proposes ways of support based in their work through this NPO.
