A digital microwave OB link system for HDTV has been developed to be used in program production, such as live broadcasting and news material transmission. The system employs multi-level digital FM modulation. An eight-level system was developed and examined by field tests. As a results, the system can transmit HDTV material at a bit rate of 45Mbps over a conventional microwave channel of 17MHz bandwidth.
