A Video Coding Scheme Using Waveform in a Reference Block

Abstract

This paper proposes a new video coding scheme which utilizes not only basis-vectors of DCT but the waveform in the reference block as basis-functions. Moreover motion estimation suitable for the coding scheme is also investigated. High energy compaction to the above waveform is realized, therefore the coding scheme provides better performance than the conventional coding scheme (MC-DCT).
