Abstract
To reduce prediction error generated in motion compensation process, widering its search range is effective. However, in MPEG2,the amount of operations and the number of bits for motion vectors increase with extent of the search range. The increase in bits causes image quality deterioration. This paper shows the relationship between the search range and image quality variations.
