Transcoding techniques are needed to convert MPEG-4 bitstreams into H.261-compatible data. We previously proposed a MPEG-4/H.261 transcoding method which restricts functions of the MPEG-4 encoder. However, this conversion increases the bitstream size. This paper discusses how to reduce this increase in data size.
