In order to investigate the optimal number and position of cameras in a multi-viewpoint 3-D video system, it is necessary to specify the most general figures and locations of picked-up objects. We selected five pairs of standard stereoscopic Hi-Vision images as the most general ones, and analyzed the statistical characteristics of contours of objects in them.
