We previously proposed a detection method of preceeding vehicles from on-board camera sequences. In the method, a road area in the current frame is motion compensated using the previous one, then the regions where compensation errors become large are detected as candidates of the vehicles. In this paper we introduce the bi-directional prediction technique to improve accuracy of the detection.
