For obtaining sufficient gray scales at low luminance levels and also for reducing artifacts on PDPs, a 16-bit capability is required. By applying four address pulses between consecutive display pulses in the Address-While-Display scheme, a 16-bit, progressive drive of 1080-line AC-PDPs was realized.
