We have developed an ultra-high-sensitivity HDTV Hand-held camera with the practical New-Super-HARP camera tubes. The camera is about 50 times as sensitive as a HDTV CCD camera. It can take HDTV color pictures of objects so dark they are imperceptible to the naked human eye. This camera has the potential to serve as a powerful tool for reporting breaking news at night, for the production of scientific programs, and for other applications.
