Abstract
NHK has broadcasted many HDTV programs since 1991 (test broadcasting). Besides BS digital channel, we started terestrial digital broadcasting last December. This situation increased our demand for HDTV productions. Several years ago, HDTV system had the disadvantage in its mobility compared to SDTV systems. But recently, NHK has developed a HDTV digital wireless handheld camera system. The feature of this system is that it is compact and lightweighted. In this paper, we introduce some concrete examples of live coverage, in which this HDTV digital wireless handheld camera system was used.
