Abstract
The authors study a full reference picture quality assessment method that evaluates transmission error impairments in addition to coding noise. New image feature based on the inter-frame difference of original and received pictures is employed additionally to the conventional method to reflect characteristics of the impairments due to transmission error. Computer simulations show that the proposed method can estimate the subjective quality of the sequences with both coding and transmission-error impairments at a better correlation coefficient than that of conventional method.
