Abstract
Recently, we have proposed a method for clipping a rectangular region from an image by minimizing a weighted intersection of two color histograms of inside and outside of the rectangular region. In this paper, we propose a method for detecting salient regions on the basis of the two color histograms of the inside and outside of the clipped rectangular region. We experimentally compare the proposed method with the latest method by Achanta et al. Experimental results show that the proposed method can detect salient regions more clearly than Achanta's method.
