6-1 Prototype system for detecting L-shaped layout and superimposed text from broadcast video

Abstract

We propose a method for detecting L-shaped layout and superimposed text from broadcast video. The method detects L-shaped layout by analyzing edge information and variance of pixel values, and then converts text image into characters using OCR. Experimental results showed the effectiveness of the proposed method.
