18-2 Development of digital broadcast receiver for visually impaired people

Abstract

It is desirable that visually impaired people can also access digital broadcasting. Such accessibility is not enough and there has been no means for a deaf-blind person to obtain information from the TV up to now. Accordingly, we have developed a set-top-box-type receiver-called a "visually impaired assist TV". In this paper, the receiver's functions and user interfaces are outlined.
