Recently, hand gesture User Interface(UI) which enables people to control digital devices intuitively became a vivid research field. When people make gestures, it is not necessary to use any control panels. It means people do not have to gaze at control panels when they control digital devices by hand gestures. From this point, we think hand gesture UI is useful to interact with a car multimedia system, because people have to control the car multimedia system without gazing at control panels while driving. We built a hand gesture recognition system for the car multimedia system and confirmed the availability.
