Abstract

A novel coding method that reduces the correlation of 4:4:4 chroma format in a high resolution image more so than HDTV is proposed. The proposed method transforms intra prediction errors to a frequency domain by applying adaptive basis functions that are derived from the error in a specific channel by using singular value decomposition. Experimental results show that applying the adaptive basis function to intra prediction errors is superior in coding efficiency to the conventional method.
