Abstract
We developed a CD compatible write-once type disk (CD-R) with an aluminium reflective layer, and proved by computer simulation and experiment that the reflectivity of the blank area in the disk having an aluminium nitride interference layer between the organic dye recording layer and the aluminium reflective layer is above 70%. The structure includes a poly carbonate (PC) substrate, an organic dye layer (110nm), an AIN interference layer (50nm), an Al reflective layer (300nm) and an UV protective layer. The recording characteristics of this disk are shown to satisfy the Orange Book II specifications and are the same as those of a CD-R with an Au reflective layer.
