We developed a CD compatible write-once type disk (CD-R) with an aluminium reflective layer, and proved by computer simulation and experiment that the reflectivity of the blank area in the disk having an aluminium nitride interference layer between the organic dye recording layer and the aluminium reflective layer is above 70%. The structure includes a poly carbonate (PC) substrate, an organic dye layer (110nm), an AIN interference layer (50nm), an Al reflective layer (300nm) and an UV protective layer. The recording characteristics of this disk are shown to satisfy the Orange Book II specifications and are the same as those of a CD-R with an Au reflective layer.

This paper discusses the frequency division multiplexed VCR recording of a bandwidth compressed analog picture signal, and digital mode signals in a TAT system Interference from the digital signal to the analog signal ordinarily reduces the SN ratio of the reproduced picture This SN ratio can be increased by reducing the interference caused by the overlapping of the frequency spectrums The analog picture signal is recorded by the VCR's FM system and the digital signal is recorded in the frequency band below the FM signal The relationship between the low-frequency cutoff characteristics of the digital signal recorded by OQDPSK and the error rate is examined by simulation, and a bandwidth suitable for recording digital signal is obtained An experimental system with on FM carrier frequency higher than that of the former system, is constructed The experiment shows that the field error rate is less than 3 3×10
-3 and the SN ratio of the reproduced pictures is about 39 dB Thus, the SN ratio is increased by more than 4dB

A back modulation-type flat CRT is developed. Using this device, it is possible to construct a large-area full-color flat CRT (30-50 inches in diagonal length for NTSC-TV and HDTV). This paper describes the charge up influence from support vanes, a circuit that can be used in a color image driver, displayed color image, and how vertical resolution and brightness can be improved. To reduce the charge-up influence from support vanes, highly-resistant materials were used to coat the Al2O3 vanes. A multiplexing circuit for R·G·B signals was fabricated to display the color image, and we displayed the color image 1 inch in diagonal length. Vertical resolution and brightness were improved significantly by using a new vertical addressing method. This study confirms the effectiveness of using back modulation type flat CRTs in televisions.
